Day 4 Munich Last Day

It is our last day in Munich. What a lovely city. We have not done as much as we wanted to since the jet lag was pretty bad for me and the kids.cloudy and overcast today so it was the perfect day to get out of the city and head to Linderhof Castle and the fairytale village of Oberamegau (I have to check that spelling!)Our tour guide was great-very informative about King Ludwig and what a lunatic he was. The castle was fabulous. Nic looked ready to keel over from boredom in the castle room's while Patrick, Juliette and I enjoyed the paintings-especially on the ceilings-all the cherubim. Ludwig loved Louis XXIV so everything was similar to the style of Versailles.
We went to the Grotto-for a moment I almost didn't go in but it was high-ceilings and Wagner played in the background. We had a fun tour group-met a couple from San Diego and a woman from South Africa.
At snack we tried what is supposed to be the "world's best chocolate croissant" so far I have to agree-we got two-one was definitely not enough. We certainly got our exercise today-up and down hill.
Next, off the the town of Oberamagau-site of the Passion Play that is performed every 10 years-it was being performed as we were there but the play is 7 hours long-about 6 hours too long for us:)
Headed into gift shops and finally sat down at a coffee/tea house. The skies opened up but there we were all nice and cozy under the awning.
Time to leave and head back to Munich. As we headed to the train Juliette and Patrick remembered they left backpack/gifts on the tour bus. After a bit the driver came back and all was well.
The kids are swimming now and then we will go out for our last dinner here.
Demain, nous partons a Paris!
Tomorrow, we leave for Paris!
